A Sulphur man has been arrested for third-degree rape and six counts of intentional exposure to the AIDS virus, authorities
said.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Kim Myer said deputies responded to complaint March 2 in reference to Brian E. Dowling, 45, 222 Francois St., intentionally exposing the AIDS virus.
During the investigation the victim told detectives one of Dowling’s family members advised her he was positive for AIDS. The victim said they had sexual intercourse on numerous occasions between February and March and Dowling never disclosed he had AIDS, Myers said.
The victim also told detectives on one occasion she was awakened by Dowling, who was on top of her having sexual intercourse without her consent.
On March 21 detectives interviewed Dowling, who confirmed he did have the AIDS virus and never disclosed that information to the victim, Myers said.
Dowling was arrested and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with six counts of intentional exposure to AIDS virus; and third degree rape.
